I became aware of problems within in the community and decided to help solve those problems.

Professional Accomplishments: Elected to Council to serve the citizens of the Village of Germantown starting a fourth term in 2008, current President of Council previously holding the position from 2000-2005, currently serving on the Personnel Board, Parks Board, Parks Oversight Chairperson, Pool Board, and represents the Village at the Valley View School Board meetings. I am in my 11th year as a science educator currently teaching Anatomy, Biology, Environmental Science, and tutoring students for the Ohio Graduation Test at Miamisburg High School. I am proud to have served our country while in the U.S. Air Force Reserves for six years as a medic and was activated for six months for Operations Desert Shield and Storm.
What made you decide to run for Council?
I ran for a council seat when I discovered and saw that the council members at the time were treating their family members and friends much differently than the other citizens in the Village. At that time I decided to make a stance for Germantown and stop the nepotisms.
What are your main goals as a member of Council?
- To make sure that the Village:1. prepares budgets in an appropriate manner by spending the tax dollars of our citizens wisely.
- seeks business and commercial opportunities to locate in the Village.
- limits rate increases whenever possible.
- allows residential growth at an infrastructurely sound rate.
- sets appropriate goals that are obtainable.
- work with surrounding communities/entities.7. and most of all, to represent the citizens of Germantown equally in all ways, always!

My municipal government experience and the fact that I was retired and had some free time on my hands.
What are your main goals as a member of Council?
To promote the welfare and image of the Village of Germantown by insuring that public funds are used efficiently and wisely.

To become more involved in the village and I felt I had ideas and an ability that could be put to use to benefit the future of the village.Higher standards in growth. I was born in Wisconsin and moved to Ohio in 1965. Graduated from Elida High School in 1966. I attended The Ohio State University where I received a bachelor’s degree in agriculture and master’s degree in natural resources.
I worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture – Natural Resources Conservation Service for 37 years in Ohio and Indiana.
For my last 20 years with USDA, I worked in Montgomery County. My main responsibilities were in assisting farmers and rural and urban landowners correct erosion and drainage problems on their land.
I also worked with businesses, schools and units of government on similar problems, along with other natural resource issues. I retired in January, 2007.
I am past chairman of the Ohio Stormwater Task Force and currently serve on the Board of Supervisors of the Montgomery Soil and Water Conservation District and the Natural Resources Assistance Council which administers the Clean Ohio Program. I am a Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Professional(CPESC) and represent Indiana, Michigan and Ohio on the CPESC National Council.
Our family moved to Germantown in 1986. My wife(Joyce) and I have two children, Michael and Anna, who both graduated from the Valley View High School. Joyce has retired from the Germantown Public Library.

(scheduling, assigning personnel, purchasing of repair parts and recording all maintenance history. Motivational speaker at maintenance work ships in Dearborn, MI. Bonnie and I have owned and operated Gunckel Heritage Bed and Breakfast from 1997 to the present.

What made you decide to run for Council?
I was previously on council for five years. Although i continued to keep up with Council matters, I missed being an active member.
What are your main goals as a member of Council?
As a lifelong resident of Germantown and German Twp. I will work to promote a good working relationship between both town and township. Promote controlled growth, while maintaining the uniqueness of Germantown. To insure your tax dollars are used in the most efficient manner.
